From Within the Foxhole

Blast

In my last post I commented on the excessive use of outrage in our culture. Indignation seems to be sounding off from every corner of society, but its prevalence is most evident in the realm of social media. Protected by anonymity or the illusion of distance, people feel the liberty to say the most heated, slanderous things online. Gossip has always stung, but with the proliferation of social media it now spreads faster and cuts deeper. Insults and insinuations are easily launched into cyberspace and they are hard to avoid. At some point in time, an online barrage will rain down on most of us. How will we handle this public hostility? Kevin DeYoung has addressed this dilemma in the most ingenious way and I share it with you as food for reflection.
